We will be hosting our next meeting at James’ place in Coffs Harbour.
During the visit we will: • Look at a new hive and discuss how the honey jar attaches to the corner of the hive once the hive reaches around 6.5–7kg in weight. The small jar acts as a removable honey super so the honey pots can be harvested without disturbing the colony. • Inspect and weigh two hives that were split over summer to see how they are progressing. • Have a look at my education hive and how it is used for demonstrations. • Open a hive that unfortunately died over summer. This will be the first time opening it to investigate what may have happened – possibly a queen loss without successful re-queening.
Tea, coffee and snacks will be provided.
This event is for members only. Their partners are also welcome to attend. The exact address will be sent out on the Friday prior to the event.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there!
