Australian Native Bee Workshop - ANBA Hunter

Date: 26 October 2024

Time: 2:00 PM

Location: HMC Gardens, 2A Platt Street, Waratah

This hands-on workshop is your chance to dive deep into the world of Australian Native Bees. Guided by experienced beekeepers, you'll learn about their fascinating behaviors and habitats while gaining practical skills, including hive splitting. Perfect for bee enthusiasts at any level.

So join us for tea, coffee and afternoon tea, where you can relax, chat with fellow bee enthusiasts and continue learning in a friendly, informal setting. It's a great opportunity to connect and share experiences!

We will have a limited amount of spaces for attendees of our event to bring along their native bee hives for a hive-splitting session. This is a great opportunity to expand your colony under the guidance of experienced native bee beekeepers. The cost to split your hive will be $20 for members and $40 for non-members per hive. If you wish to split more than one hive it will be an additional cost per hive. Whether you're a seasoned beekeeper or just starting out, this is a perfect chance to learn and grow your hive!

2. Weight Requirements: Your hive should weigh at least 5kg; 7kg is ideal.

3. New Layers Ready: Prepare new hive layers that are the same size as your current hive.

4. Close Up the Hive: The night before the workshop you must be available to seal the hive using a plug for the entrance and any other openings.

5. Plug for New Hive: Have a plug ready for the new hive after splitting. Ready to be taken home.

6. Evening Availability: Be prepared to stay until evening to take your hives home.
