Sunday 5 February 2023, 10 am to 4 pm. at Brisbane’s Bulimba Community Centre and Memorial Park.
Planning is cranking up for the new grass-roots event which will celebrate all aspects of native bees.
Attendees will experience Welcome to Country, indigenous cultural native bee dance, Hive exhibition, information stands, commercial displays, talks, honey tasting, live out-door demonstrations of native bee keeping methods, food and coffee trucks, etc. Hit us with any ideas you have to make this day memorable.
We have formed a planning committee and are thrilled that a new member of the Brisbane branch executive, Nina Rodgers, has volunteered. Nina brings skills in event management. Max (Kupae) Dillon, a Kombumerri man brings his indigenous perspective to the team. Dean Haley and Tim Heard round off the committee which is meeting weekly to get things going.
Note that a central part of this event will be a hive competition. The Brisbane branch has been offering this event annually since 2018 and it just keeps getting better. So please start thinking about what you can bring to this inaugural event.
